Carmelita is a relatively new presenter who wrote her speech the night before the boot camp. She has an amazing story to tell but doesn’t yet know how to tell it. Notice in the clip the first time she tells the story of her parents intentionally leaving her behind; she doesn’t even react to their going. She then moves to the next part of her story.

In the second clip, she was coached to hold that moment and let the audience personally connect with the emotions of that moment. Whether it’s an important sales presentation or a heartfelt moment in a speech, these key moments define our ability to move our audience. Craig and I don’t just tell people what to do; we show them why, so these lessons will impact presentations for the rest of their lives.

Pat is a financial planner and a very confident and experienced presenter. His writing skills really shine. He had a common problem that most experienced speakers have. (You’ll even hear Craig tell the audience that he had the same problem when he started.) It’s something we call “SPEAKER MAN” (or woman). It means the speech is great, but the speaker forgets one thing; the audience. The presentation would be delivered in exactly the same way even if no one were in front of him.
